Using Your Red Light Panel Safely

Sep 27,2026 | LumHarbor

Before using a red and near-infrared light panel, read the instructions supplied with your exact model. This general checklist helps you prepare, but the model's directions determine the appropriate setup, distance, settings, and session length.

Start with the model instructions

Check the recommended positioning and operating steps before turning the panel on. Do not assume that guidance for another panel applies to yours. Use the supplied power equipment and accessories as directed, and keep the unit away from water and other conditions excluded by its instructions.

Protect your eyes

Do not stare directly into an illuminated panel. If your model's instructions call for eye protection, use the recommended protection every time. Ordinary sunglasses should not be substituted for protective eyewear specified by the device instructions.

Consider light sensitivity

If you have a condition affected by light, take medication that increases light sensitivity, or are unsure whether light exposure is appropriate for you, speak with a qualified healthcare professional before use. The American Academy of Dermatology also recommends checking personal risks and following the directions that come with an at-home red-light device.

Stop if something feels wrong

Stop using the panel if you experience discomfort or notice unusual operation. Switch it off and follow the model's instructions before inspecting or moving it. If the unit or cord appears damaged, do not continue using it; contact LumHarbor support for help.

Remember: this article provides general product-use information. It is not medical advice and does not claim that a panel diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents a disease. Always follow the instructions included with your model.
